DIRECTV for senior living, from independent living to skilled nursing

Sat Star Communications is an Authorized DIRECTV for Business Dealer with 26 years designing, installing, renting and maintaining television systems for senior living communities. We build bulk DIRECTV distribution across every level of care — one system feeding resident units, dining rooms and activity spaces, on commercial programming that’s properly licensed for common-area viewing.

What a senior living engagement includes

  • Site survey of your headend room, risers and existing cabling across every building
  • Itemized proposal covering equipment, labor and monthly programming per unit
  • Purchase or rental options for commercial-grade hardware
  • Dining room, chapel, activity room and therapy-gym displays included in the design
  • Support plan with response commitments after go-live

A complete community TV system

We handle the reception, distribution, programming and support as one project.

Campus headend design

One commercial headend sized to your community, feeding every resident apartment, cottage and common area from a single rack.

Multi-building distribution

Coax or fiber trunks between independent living, assisted living and skilled nursing buildings on the same campus.

Resident-friendly lineups

Consistent channel numbering across every level of care, plus large-button remotes so residents don't need to relearn the TV.

Install without disruption

Unit-by-unit scheduling coordinated with your activities and care staff, so residents are never left without television.

Ongoing support

Service plans with a named account manager, remote diagnostics and dispatch — one number for your maintenance director.

Authorized dealer

Licensed commercial DIRECTV dealer and private cable operator serving senior living communities nationwide.

Designed for every level of care

One campus often spans four resident experiences. The design accounts for all of them.

Independent living

Apartment-style units where residents expect a full residential-grade lineup, DVR options and their own remote.

Assisted living

Simple, consistent channel lineups with easy remotes, plus lobby, dining room and activity-room displays.

Memory care

Locked-down, simplified interfaces and fixed volume/channel limits so residents aren't stranded on a blank input.

Skilled nursing

Bedside-friendly setups with pillow speakers or bedrail controls where required, and durable commercial hardware.

Senior living TV system options compared

Four ways to deliver DIRECTV across a community. Most communities above 40 units land on a bulk headend.

Senior living DIRECTV questions we get most

Can a senior living community use residential DIRECTV?

Not for resident units or common areas. Senior living communities need commercial DIRECTV programming — residential accounts aren't licensed for that use. We set the community up on a commercial account as an Authorized DIRECTV for Business Dealer.

What does DIRECTV for assisted living or a nursing home cost?

Pricing has two parts: the one-time system (headend, distribution, labor) and the monthly commercial programming, generally priced per unit at the package tier you choose. We quote both line by line after a site survey, because unit count, campus layout and existing cabling drive the number.

Can residents keep their own billing, or is it bulk?

Both models work. Bulk puts TV into the resident fee on one community invoice — the most common choice and the lowest per-unit cost. We can also structure a private cable operator arrangement where residents are billed individually.

Do we have to rewire the buildings?

Usually not. Most communities already have coax risers that can carry a bulk headend signal. The survey tests what you have, and the proposal only includes cabling we actually need to replace.

How do you handle installs with residents in place?

We schedule unit by unit around your care and activities calendar, keep visits short, and test every outlet before leaving the room. Common areas are cut over outside of meal and program times.

Do you serve communities outside Florida?

Yes. Systems are engineered and staged at our Odessa, Florida base and installed nationwide — see our service area for regional detail.
